The Leanne Ladies are back in business and are all set to take on the next challenge to walk a marathon as part of this year’s virtual Kiltwalk raising funds for The Leanne Fund.

Isle of Lewis residents – Chrisetta Mitchell, Jimima Macleod, Chrisell Macleod, Mina Nicolson and Donna Barden – are planning on digging out some kilts and walking 26.2miles on April 24.

The team will start with a loop of Lews Castle Grounds, then they will walk from the Castle to Tiumpan Head and back.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, most fundraising events for The Leanne Fund have been cancelled over the last two years so alternative fundraising ideas remain key to maintaining services to Cystic Fibrosis patients and their families across the Highlands, Islands, Grampian and Tayside areas.

Team member, Chrisetta Mitchell, Development Manager for The Leanne Fund, said:

“The Leanne Ladies team have taken on many fundraising challenges to raise funds for the Leanne Fund and this year we’re preparing to get out and about and take on the Kiltwalk.

“In previous years we have walked over 100 miles continuously in 2013, done two Dusk2Dawn 50km walks, climbed seven Munros in 24 hours and we thought it was time for another in 2021.

“We are planning to walk the marathon on April 24th in our kilts so hopefully the weather will be in our favour!

“We are accepting donations enroute and we have a free pair of sunglasses (courtesy of Arnold Clark who are sponsoring the event) for anyone who gives a donation on the day.”
