Tide Lines Set for Dornoch Festival as New Single Alright Lands

Tide Lines are set to take the stage at Dornoch Music Festival this July, arriving in the Highlands with new music and a decade of momentum behind them.

The band will perform on Saturday 18 July as part of a packed weekend line up in Dornoch, joining a bill that reflects the growing pull of the festival across Scotland.

Their appearance comes as they release their latest single Alright on 1 May, marking the next step in a milestone year that celebrates ten years since the band first came together.

The new track leans into the rich indie folk sound that has defined Tide Lines, blending uplifting instrumentation with a quieter, more reflective theme rooted in landscape and simplicity.

Alright explores the idea that fulfilment is often found closer to home, with a sense that the natural world offers something deeper than the noise of modern life.

That connection to place has always been central to the band’s identity, and it is one that will land naturally with a Highland audience when they arrive in Dornoch.

Frontman Robert Robertson said the song carries both warmth and honesty.

“It’s a feel good song with a catchy chorus so we’re excited to take it with us on our 10 Year Tour.

“There’s a hint of loneliness in the storyline and a sense of a life unlived but, ultimately, the character in the song doesn’t believe the wider world could offer him anything better than the birdsong he enjoys early each morning.”

The release follows a busy run of European dates, with the band already taking their anniversary tour across Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany and Denmark.

That momentum continues through the UK and Ireland this month, building towards a major homecoming show at Glasgow’s OVO Hydro in September.

The new single also signals a shift back towards the band’s rural influences, following the more city focused themes explored in their recent album Glasgow Love Story.

Drawing inspiration from landscapes and voices shaped by writers such as Seamus Heaney and Norman MacCaig, the track reconnects with the environment that has long underpinned their sound.

For audiences in the Highlands, that return to roots will feel familiar and authentic.

Dornoch Music Festival, set against the backdrop of open skies and coastline, offers exactly the kind of setting where that music breathes.

The festival itself continues to grow as a summer highlight, bringing together major acts and emerging talent across a weekend that balances scale with a strong sense of place.

For Tide Lines, it is another step in a year that blends reflection with forward movement.

For Dornoch, it is another signal that the Highlands are firmly on the map for live music.

And for those heading along in July, it promises a moment where new music, familiar voices and Highland atmosphere come together as one.

Tide Lines will bring their new single Alright to Dornoch Music Festival this July, combining a decade of music with a return to their Highland roots in a setting that reflects everything their sound stands for.
