Tory Sleaze Scandal Engulfing Westminster

The SNP are calling on Boris Johnson to explain his £15,000 dodgy donor-funded holiday to Mustique following news that he is under investigation by the Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards.

The Prime Minister took the trip with his fiancée Carrie Symonds in 2019.

Following the holiday, Johnson said he had accepted accommodation, valued at £15,000, from Tory donor David Ross – however, Mr Ross has since denied this claim.

The news comes amid the growing Tory sleaze scandal engulfing Westminster, and allegations of impropriety and illegality against the Prime Minister who is reported to have sought donations to fund a refurbishment of his downing street flat, holidays, and a personal nanny, cook and trainer.

Commenting, SNP Depute Leader Kirsten Oswald MP (pictured) said:

“With each passing day, another major scandal engulfs the Prime Minister.

“Whether it’s COVID contract for cronies, texts for tax breaks, cash for curtains, or £15,000 luxury holidays paid for by mystery donors, a culture of sleaze has consumed the Tories.

“This latest revelation demonstrates, yet again, how out of touch the Tories are with millions of ordinary families across the country who struggle to get by.

“They can’t turn to a Tory donor and jet off to the Caribbean – instead, they must face Tory cuts head-on.

“The investigation by the Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards is a step in the right direction, but it should never have come to this.

“We will continue to call for a full independent inquiry to get to the bottom of these Tory sleaze allegations.

“Nobody is above the law or parliamentary rules – not even the Prime Minister.”
