Bield pledge support for Scottish Housing Day theme of sustainability.
Tenants across the country have been sharing the kind of world they want to see for their grandchildren for Scottish Housing Day.
Leading housing provider, Bield Housing and Care, has marked the date by encouraging tenants to engage in conversations around this year’s theme of sustainable housing.
Bield has taken the opportunity to raise awareness of the importance of sustainability with staff and tenants by discussing what sustainability means to them and how everyone can play a part in creating a more sustainable future.
The charity has also launched an online initiative, with a short video of tenants talking about the kind of world they want for their grandchildren, in the hope it will encourage more people to get talking about the issues we face.

“We’re really proud to be celebrating Scottish Housing Day and showcasing that housing is more than bricks and mortar; it’s also about the people that live there and the difference we can make to wider society.
“This year, Scottish Housing Day raises awareness of important challenges facing the industry as we look to meet upcoming sustainability standards and set our own green ambitions.”
Bield has revealed its commitments to integrating sustainability into its day-to-day operations and has recently made new sustainability hires – with Net Carbon Manager, Ron Mould, and Energy & Sustainability Manager, Marianne Campbell both appointed at the start of 2022.
The firm also published its Energy Management and Environmental Sustainability Policy, which commits Bield to slashing its carbon footprint by 90% by 2024 across its 5,000+ properties.

“There is real responsibility for housing developments to work together towards a sustainable future in order to secure a safe and green world for future generations – we’re glad that staff and tenants are working together with us on this and joining in the conversation to raise awareness.”
Scottish Housing Day takes place on 14 September and is in its seventh year of celebrating and raising challenges within the sector.
