Honda is celebrating three decades of the CR-V with a bold new concept that blends futuristic flair with rugged practicality.
The new CR-V ‘Dream Pod’ is a unique camping creation inspired by Japan’s capsule hotels, built to bring comfort and convenience to off-grid adventures.
It sleeps two and comes packed with practical features like a built-in stove, sink, USB charging ports and blackout blinds.

The base model is Honda’s CR-V e:PHEV, a plug-in hybrid offering an all-electric range of 49 miles, perfect for silent, emissions-free exploration.
With a generous 159mm ground clearance and multi-mode traction control, the Dream Pod is built to go where most SUVs wouldn’t dare.
Its transformation starts with the EGOE Nestboard 650, a clever modular setup that fits snugly into the CR-V’s 617-litre boot.
Fold down the rear seats and out pops a full-size double mattress, turning the back of the car into a cosy retreat in minutes.
A concealed drawer slides out to reveal a cooking station, complete with stove, collapsible sink and space for cutlery and utensils.
LED reading lights, side tables and USB sockets add extra touches of comfort, alongside rear window covers and privacy blinds to turn the car into a true mobile haven.
Honda’s own accessories enhance the experience, from a Thule bike rack on a detachable tow bar to tough rubber mats and illuminated sill trims for muddy late-night returns.
To showcase its potential, Honda teamed up with astrophotographer Benjamin Barakat, who drove the Dream Pod into the Italian Alps.
He captured stunning images of the night sky, including Orion’s Nebula and the Pleiades cluster, using the Dream Pod as his mobile base.
The comfort and capability of the setup gave him the freedom to chase the perfect shot, without worrying about the time, temperature or terrain.
Honda says this one-off concept celebrates the spirit that’s made the CR-V one of the world’s best-selling SUVs since 1995.
The original CR-V launched the crossover craze by mixing car-like comfort with SUV practicality, a winning formula now in its sixth generation.
Last year it was the third best-selling SUV globally and has shifted over a million units in Europe alone.
Honda’s Nik Pearson said the Dream Pod is a tribute to the CR-V’s enduring appeal and adventurous spirit.
It’s a car that’s grown with families, tackled tough roads and defined its segment for 30 years.
Now, with the Dream Pod, Honda shows it’s still dreaming big and driving into the future.
