Inverness will be buzzing with energy this weekend as hundreds of runners take to the streets for the annual Race for Life.
The popular event, in aid of Cancer Research UK, will see participants tackle 5K and 10K routes through the heart of the city on Sunday 1 June.
To keep everyone safe during the event, a number of roads will be closed to traffic from 8 am until 1.30 pm.
Drivers are being urged to plan ahead, as several well-used routes will be affected throughout the morning.
Among the closures is Bught Road, which will be shut between its junctions with Bught Avenue and Ness Walk Upper.
Ness Walk Upper itself will also be closed, in sections stretching from Bught Road through to Bishop’s Road.
In addition, Ardross Terrace will be closed from Ness Walk to Ardross Street.
Ness Walk will see restrictions from Young Street to Ardross Terrace.
Castle Road will also be closed between Haugh Road and Bridge Street, although southbound traffic will still be able to pass through.
Finally, Ness Bank and Gavell Gardens Road will be closed to through traffic between Castle Road and Island Bank Road.
The temporary closures are a key part of ensuring the safety and smooth running of the day.
Race for Life events across Scotland and the UK raise millions of pounds every year to support vital cancer research.
Inverness has always shown fantastic community spirit for this cause, with runners of all ages and abilities taking part.
Spectators are very welcome to come along and cheer on the participants as they complete their challenge.
For those needing to travel through the city during the event, it is best to allow extra time or consider alternative routes.
Full details of the closures are available from the Highland Council website.
It promises to be a wonderful day for a brilliant cause.
