A new Redfield & Wilton Strategies poll shows support for the SNP rising at Westminster and Holyrood.
The new survey shows the party is the top choice of voters in Scotland – with support increasing by 2 points for the next Westminster election to 37% and 3 points for the next Holyrood election constituency vote to 36%.
In addition, the poll shows voters in Scotland continue to back Humza Yousaf as their top choice for First Minister, and a plurality of voters support holding an independence next year (41% for vs 40% against).
In contrast to rising support for the SNP, support for the Tories has fallen by four points at Westminster to 17%, 2 points in the Holyrood constituency vote to 19%, and Rishi Sunak’s net approval rating has fallen eight points to minus 28.
Asked their view on the UK Government, a majority of Scots (62%, +2) say the current UK Government is incompetent with just 13% (-4) disagreeing.
SNP Depute Leader Keith Brown MSP said:
“This poll shows that people across Scotland continue to back the SNP and our positive vision for Scotland – but we take absolutely nothing for granted.
“It also shows that people value the First Minister’s focus on supporting households through Westminster’s cost of living crisis and protecting people from the worst of Tory policies like the two-child cap and abhorrent rape clause – with Humza Yousaf continuing to be people’s top choice for First Minister.
“Only the SNP are offering a real alternative with independence – which would rid Scotland of the chaos of Westminster, protect the powers of our Scottish Parliament, and build a fairer, greener, more prosperous future for Scotland.”
