Essential resurfacing operations on the A85 at Kilmaronaig, positioned two miles east of Connel, are set to deliver significant improvements for motorists starting Tuesday 26 November.
The comprehensive project, spanning 1km of carriageway, will create a more weather-resistant and safer driving surface, demonstrating continued investment in Highland infrastructure.
Works teams will operate between 7am and 7pm on weekdays from 26 November until 10 December, implementing a carefully managed 10mph convoy system with temporary traffic signals to maintain traffic flow while ensuring worker safety.
During non-operational hours, whilst traffic management equipment will be removed, a prudent 30mph speed restriction will remain in force due to the temporary road surface conditions.
BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative, Ian Stewart, highlighted the project’s importance, stating:
“These essential resurfacing works will upgrade the existing road surface, greatly improving the quality and safety for road users.”
The strategic timing of these improvements aims to minimise disruption whilst delivering maximum benefit to both local commuters and visitors traversing this vital Highland artery.
Motorists are advised to plan journeys accordingly during the construction period, allowing for slight delays while these necessary improvements are completed.
The project represents another step forward in the ongoing commitment to enhance Scotland’s road network, ensuring safer and more reliable journeys through the Highland region.
No weekend work is scheduled, allowing for normal traffic flow during traditionally busier periods and minimising impact on local businesses and tourism.
