Moray’s Community Planning Partnership (CPP) has given the green light to a new Community Learning and Development (CLD) Plan for 2024-2027, setting an ambitious roadmap for empowering local communities through lifelong learning, active citizenship, and community support.
Developed by the CLD Strategic Partnership, the plan is designed to address improvement areas highlighted by His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Education (HMIE) during their 2023 Progress Visit, ensuring that community resources directly respond to local needs.
The CPP board recognises CLD’s pivotal role in building stronger communities and promoting personal growth through adult education, family learning, youth work, and wider community development efforts.
This plan is structured around three core themes: “Learning for Life,” “Active Citizens and Community Voice,” and “Developing and Connecting the CLD Workforce,” each focusing on nurturing skills and empowering individuals to engage actively in their communities.
Councillor Kathleen Robertson, Chair of the Education, Children’s and Leisure Services Committee, expressed her support, saying:
“We’re delighted to have the 2024-2027 CLD Plan approved, as it prioritises the needs of our communities and underscores the importance of lifelong learning and active citizenship.”
Robertson urged residents to stay engaged as the plan unfolds, highlighting the benefits it aims to bring to Moray’s residents of all ages and backgrounds.
A central aspect of the strategy is accountability, with annual progress reports to be presented to the board over the plan’s three-year duration, ensuring transparency and clear tracking of results.
