Bike Fest is making a welcome return to Moray this summer, inviting locals and visitors alike to hop on two wheels and join the fun.
This beloved series of cycling events will once again bring joy, movement and community spirit to scenic spots across the region, with free family-friendly activities on offer for all ages and abilities.
Running from May to September, Bike Fest promises an afternoon of outdoor adventure every few weeks on a Sunday from 12 to 3pm.
The first event kicks off in Cullen on 25 May beneath the iconic viaduct, setting the tone for a season filled with laughter, energy and the unmistakable hum of spinning pedals.
Each event will feature a vibrant mix of activities including an obstacle course for the daring, led rides for the sociable, BMX sessions for the bold and bike maintenance checks for the practical.
The ever-popular smoothie bike will return too, where pedal power fuels a blender to create delicious and healthy drinks on the spot.
There will be bikes provided for those who need them and plenty of chances to try out more unusual models like tandems, cargo bikes and accessible adapted bikes.
Whether you’re a lifelong cyclist or someone dusting off the cobwebs, the aim is simple: to get people moving, smiling and exploring Moray’s growing network of paths in a safe, welcoming setting.
The full programme is as follows:
- 25 May – Cullen, at the Viaduct
- 15 June – Fochabers, Burnside Field and football pitch
- 31 August – Aberlour, Alice Littler Park
- 7 September – Rothes, MacKessack Park
No booking is required and every event is completely free.
Councillor Kathleen Robertson, Chair of Moray Council’s Education, Communities and Leisure Services Committee, is delighted to see the event return.
“Bike Fest is a brilliant opportunity for families and individuals to get outside, have fun and build confidence on their bikes,” she said.
“We’re very fortunate in Moray to offer many scenic locations and a growing network of safe and accessible paths for walking and cycling.
“Bike Fest will help people discover some of them in a relaxed, supportive environment – all while promoting the benefits of cycling as a healthy and sustainable mode of travel.”
The event is being delivered by Moray Council’s Active Travel team in partnership with Cycling UK, Cooper Park Active Travel Hub, Outfit Moray, TyredNCrankey, TSI Moray, UHI Active Campus, Theraplay and the Scottish BMX School, led by Reece Thomson.
So pump up those tyres, gather the family and mark your diaries. This summer, the road to fun runs straight through Moray.
