New data has revealed that under the SNP Scotland’s economy is going from strength to strength.

Figures from the Royal Bank of Scotland have shown that in April Scotland’s private sector achieved strong growth in employment.

The data highlighted that Scotland had the second highest employment growth in the UK behind only Northern Ireland who, unlike Scotland, benefit from access to the EU single market.

This latest analysis follows figures showing that in 2023 earnings in Scotland grew faster than any other part of the UK and, under this SNP Government, foreign investment continues to outpace the rest of the UK and Europe.

New First Minister John Swinney has made clear that his SNP Government will prioritise driving economic growth in Scotland to allow for investment in public services, delivery of fair wages and the eradication of child poverty.

Comment, SNP MSP Willie Coffey said:

“Delivering economic growth in Scotland will ensure that we can invest in public services, deliver better wages across society, and eradicate child poverty.

“These latest figures show that in Scotland under the SNP Government the actions we are taking to support businesses are resulting in more well paid jobs being created across the country.

“Scotland has all the strengths required to drive economic growth – extraordinary natural resources, a skilled workforce, innovative companies and world-leading universities – and this SNP Government is focused on harnessing these assets for the benefit of everyone in Scotland.”
