Voters will be going to the polls on July 4, but did you know that boundaries for the Highland constituencies in the UK Parliamentary Election have changed?

UK Parliamentary constituency boundaries are reviewed periodically to take account of population changes.

The new boundaries for the UK Parliament Constituencies came into effect at the dissolution of the UK Parliament on Thursday 30 May, 2024 and  the upcoming general election on Thursday 4 July 2024 will be the first to be contested with these new electoral boundaries.

The boundary changes have realigned the previous three Highland constituencies into the following two ā€“

This means that some voters within the Highland Council area will now vote within new constituencies of neighbouring local governments:

All in person voters are reminded to check their poll card carefully when they receive it.

It will provide details of which constituency the person is voting in and where they need to go to cast their vote on polling day

Anyone wishing to vote in the election at a polling station, using a postal vote or by applying for a proxy vote must ensure they are registered. Ā

The deadline to register to vote in the 2024 general election is midnight Tuesday 18 June 2024.

For more information on registration, postal or proxy voting, people are being advised to visitĀ www.saa.gov.uk/h-wi-vjbĀ or if further advice is required emailĀ ero@highland.gov.ukĀ or call 0800 393 783.
